The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) can “see” the Earth’s winds as their scientists track tiny aerosol particles such as smoke, dust, and sea salt carried in the air. I took one of their thousands of videos, stripped out the (quite helpful) narration, added a jazz soundtrack, and dropped in a distinctive carrot top you might recognize.

The jazz is by Art Pepper playing Charlie Parker’s “Yardbird Suite,” recorded sometime after his release from prison in 1956. The music was released by Blue Note in 1988.
